Do you need a vignette to reach Uzhhorod?
The Hungarian motorway vignette only covers the Hungarian section of your route. Once you cross into Ukraine, a completely different toll or vignette system takes over — OptimÚt calculates the Hungarian leg for you, up to the border.
Border crossing options
Via Beregsurány (M3 + 41-es főút): This cost/time covers the route to Beregsurány (the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, via the M3 motorway then road 41) only — Uzhhorod is about another 10 km from there. The final stretch is an ordinary road, so a Hungarian vignette is often not even required here.
Via Záhony (4-es főút (Csap)): This cost/time covers the route to Záhony (the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, via road 4 towards Chop) only — Uzhhorod is about another 25 km from there via Chop. This is one of Hungary's oldest and best-known crossings into Ukraine (also a major rail hub) — an alternative to Beregsurány above.
How to calculate it
Open OptimÚt, enter your own starting point in "From", and type Uzhhorod into "To" — OptimÚt automatically recognises it as an international destination and calculates the route, toll cost and required vignette(s) up to the border, for whichever of the crossings above turns out faster or cheaper for your specific starting point.
