Do you need a vignette to reach Arad?
The Hungarian motorway vignette only covers the Hungarian section of your route. Once you cross into Romania, a completely different toll or vignette system takes over — OptimÚt calculates the Hungarian leg for you, up to the border.
Border crossing options
Via Csanádpalota (M43): This cost/time covers the route to Csanádpalota (the Hungarian-Romanian border, M43 motorway) only — Arad is about another 30 km from there, where Romanian tolls (rovinieta) apply.
Via Gyula (Gyulavarsánd (Vărșand) irányába): This cost/time covers the route to Gyula (the Hungarian-Romanian border, towards the Gyulavarsánd/Vărșand crossing) only — Arad is about another 70 km from there, where Romanian tolls (rovinieta) apply. An alternative to the Csanádpalota/M43 route above — this one is not a motorway.
How to calculate it
Open OptimÚt, enter your own starting point in "From", and type Arad into "To" — OptimÚt automatically recognises it as an international destination and calculates the route, toll cost and required vignette(s) up to the border, for whichever of the crossings above turns out faster or cheaper for your specific starting point.
